22 PAW Patrol Characters Names To Give Your Dog (Which One Suits YOur New Pup?)

Paw Patrol is a very popular children’s TV show today where good natured pups save the day, as the title suggests. No wonder many pet parents like to name their pets after Paw Patrol characters names such as Ryder, Chase, Everest, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Skye, Trucker, Zuma, Tuck, Ella and Rex.

I can attest to the fact that getting a new puppy is one of the happiest days of my pet parent life. Thinking of a name, however, can be a very tricky task. There are so many good dog names to choose from.

I suggest you find a name that you will be proud and comfortable to call. It is also advisable to give your dog a short name that is easy to pronounce, but not something that sounds like the basic commands such as Kit that sounds like “sit” or Bo which sounds like “no”—this could be very confusing for dogs.

A good place to start is with characters from movies or shows. If you have kids in the home or you were one not too long ago, you may want to consider one of the PAW Patrol character names.

PAW Patrol characters are popular for their distinct and quirky personalities, as well as their interests. If your new pup reminds you of one of those animated PAW Patrol pups then you may have just found the perfect name. Check out my list below.

The PAW Patrol Characters

Cartoon police dog.

If you are not familiar with the children’s show PAW Patrol then you have been missing out. Set in the town of Adventure Bay, the story centers around a little boy named Ryder and the puppies he has befriended. These puppies are all rescue pups in training. They are all learning to help out in specific jobs, like a fireman, police dog, and construction worker.

Their names fit their jobs as well as their personalities, making it easy for you to choose one that fits your new furry friend. Here’s a brief introduction to each of them.

Ryder

Ok, so technically Ryder is not a puppy, but he is the human star of the show PAW Patrol and he does have lots of puppy friends. As the leader of the PAW Patrol pack, he spends a lot of time teaching these new dogs new tricks and a fair amount of time rescuing them and others when they haven’t quite gotten the hang of things yet. He is optimistic, friendly, patient and a whole lot of fun to be around.

Chase

Chase is a German Shepherd puppy who likes to be in charge. He dreams of being a police dog when he gets old enough. He wears a police uniform and has the characteristics we would all like to associate with police officers. He is loyal, smart, eager, athletic, and happy to help anyone who needs it.

This German Shepherd rescue pup is also allergic to both feathers and cats; they make him sneeze. If your pup sneezes a lot or shows any of the other characteristics, then this might be the right PAW Patrol name for him or her.

Everest

Everest is a Siberian Husky puppy who is happiest in the ice and snow. She spends a lot of her time outside, regardless of the weather. Plucky and determined, this PAW Patrol snow rescue pup is always on the lookout for folks who may have gotten into trouble, particularly if snow or ice is involved.

If your new pup is furry, full of energy, and never wants to come back in the house then this PAW Patrol name fits just right.

Marshall

Marshall is a Dalmatian puppy and wears the coat and hat of a fireman. He is a member of the PAW Patrol now but he can’t wait for the day when he’s grown up and can help out at a real firehouse as a firefighter and paramedic dog.

Marshall gets very easily wound up, sometimes running like crazy for no reason. He is also a bit clumsy, frequently he gets so excited he trips over his own feet. Not to worry, he bounces back up again good as new. If this sounds a bit like your new puppy, then Marshall might be the best choice of the PAW Patrol characters’ names.

Rocky

Rocky is a mixed breed pup but in no way considers himself second best. He might not have the fancy breeding of his PAW Patrol friends, but he has enough smarts and creativity to more than makeup for that. He is also a big fan of recycling and is forever finding ways to reduce and reuse everything he can and encouraging those around him to do the same.

This PAW Patrol character is one of the rescue dogs that is always finding new ways to get things done and figures out every problem he tackles. If your pup is a bit of an escape artist and can figure out how to get to the dog treats no matter how well you hide them, then this name may be the right fit.

Rubble

Rubble is an English Bulldog who may seem a bit grumpy at first but is really a sweetheart once he gets to know you. He dreams of working with a construction crew when he’s grown up but for now, he is happy working with the PAW Patrol. He likes nothing better than digging holes in the dirt and getting himself filthy. Then he enjoys a nice bath and sets out to get dirty all over again.

If digging holes or just rolling in the mud is a fun pastime for your English Bulldog or any puppy breed, or he would rather get dirty than cuddle up to new people, then this construction pup PAW Patrol name may fit him or her well.

Skye

Skye is a light-footed and graceful little Cockapoo, which is a Cocker Spaniel and Poodle mix. She doesn’t seem to walk from place to place but rather seems to almost float or dance on her toes. She even taught herself how to do backflips, just for the fun of it. She is always cheerful and ready to fly off to wherever she the PAW Patrol is needed.

If your new pup is dainty, full of grace, and seems happy in almost any situation, then Skye may be the PAW Patrol name for you.

Tracker

Tracker is a Chihuahua. He may be tiny but he has a huge personality and holds his own with the rest of the PAW Patrol puppies. He is the youngest pup that lives with his owner, Carlos in the jungles of Mexico. He speaks English but sometimes lapses into Spanish when excited. The most notable of his features are his large ears. He puts these to good use as a jungle rescue pup. He can usually hear things long before his friends do.

If you have a “small in size but large in spirit” kind of dog, or one whose ears appear to be way too large for the rest of him, then Tracker may be the right PAW Patrol name for them.

Zuma

Zuma is a Chocolate Labrador who loves to be in and around the water. He plans to work with lifeguards when he grows up. For now, he is a member of the PAW Patrol who is full of energy and always ready to laugh and have a good time.

If boundless energy, good humor, and a love of the water sound like a description of your new dog, then Zuma may fit him or her just fine.

Tuck

Tuck is a Golden retriever and one-half of the Mighty Twins, the puppy superheroes that join the PAW Patrol when needed. His twin sister Ella is the other half. Tuck is fun-loving and loves to rough and tumble with other puppies, especially his twin sister. He also has a secret ability; he can shrink really small.

If your new dog really enjoys a good tug of war or better yet, wrestling, with you or other dogs, then Tuck may just be the name you are looking for.

Two sleeping Golden Retrievers.

Ella

Ella is also a Golden Retriever and the other half of the Mighty Twins. She, along with her brother Tuck can get into tremendous scrapes but they always manage to find their way out without losing their good humor. They are also always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it, especially the PAW Patrol. Her secret ability, she can grow really big.

If your pup is always smiling and looking to play then Ella might be a good choice of names, especially if she seems to have the ability to make a really big mess.

Rex

While not a full-time member of the PAW Patrol, Rex, a Bernese Mountain dog, helps them out from time to time. He is the only member of the PAW Patrol crew who has a physical disability. His rear legs are paralyzed and he gets around thanks to a wheeled cart.

Rex never lets the fact that he is disabled stop him from helping out or doing anything else he sets his mind to. He is determined, smart, and knows a lot about just about everything. He lives in a place called the Dino Wilds where there are plenty of dinosaurs but no other puppies.

Whether or not your pup has a physical disability, if they persevere in the face of hardship, even if that hardship is just trying to get you to give them one more treat, then Rex may be the right name.

Other Characters

There are some characters in PAW Patrol that aren’t puppies but you find still find their names appealing. There’s Cap’n Turbot, a marine biologist who tries to protect the oceans and the wildlife that live in them. Wally is a walrus. He is a good friend of Cap’n Turbot and enjoys performing tricks.

Mayor Humdinger is the mayor of the nearby town of Foggy Bottom and a constant rival of the mayor of Adventure Bay, Mayor Goodway. Mayor Humdinger is also the owner of the Kitten Catastrophe Crew, a band of kittens that are forever causing trouble. Chickaletta is the pet of Mayor Goodway. She is easily excitable and always seems to be in a panic about something. There are Farmer Yumi and Farmer Al, the hardworking couple that grow vegetables and take care of animals.

Two dogs dressed in medical staff.

Robo-Dog is a robotic dog built and owned by Ryder. Ryder designed him to have all of the qualities found in the PAW Patrol crew. He can do anything they can do, maybe just a little bit better. Then there’s Wild Cat, the first non-canine member of the Paw Patrol team.

The trick to naming your new dog, or any pet, maybe to take a little bit of time to get to know the pup before deciding. The PAW Patrol dog names listed above fits the personality of the puppy it was given to. Taking the time to get to know the newest member of your family will make it easier for you to find the name that fits him or her just right.
