This peppy little terrier has a shaggy coat that comes in red, brindle, blackish, sand and various shades of gray. The Adult color is hard to predict from the color of the puppy as it will continue to change over the years. This is a spirited little busybody or "a giant dog in a little dog's body". He stands about 10-13 inches and weighs about 14-18 pounds. He is very alert, loyal, lovable and especially mischievous. The Cairn Terrier is independent, but also very friendly. Females tend to be even more independent than males. These dogs are easily trainable and love to do tricks to impress their master. Without attention and training, they can become destructive and even begin to bark excessively. Also, they love to dig for rodents so don't leave them unsupervised in your beautifully landscaped yard! A tough little guy, he may be prone to fight with dogs too big for him to handle. Don't leave him tied out alone. |
