This breed comes in two sizes; standard and miniature. The Standard Bull Terrier is about 20-24 inches and weighs between 45 to 80 pounds. The Miniature is only 10 to 14 inches and 25 to 35 pounds. A muscular, well-proportioned animal, the Bull Terrier has a short coat that comes in pure white, black, brindle, red, fawn and tri-color. Its most distinctive feature is its head, which has a flat top and slopes down to the end of the nose. This breed was once a fierce gladiator but he is alot more gentle today. Although they have been known to defend their owners in a critical situation, they aren't bred to be guard dogs. They are courageous, fun-loving and clownish but they often become overly attached to their owners. They may be too energetic for small children and cannot tolerate teasing. Be sure to socialize them well. If you train them right, they make excellent watch dogs but they can be somewhat difficult to train. |
