The Boxer is a breed of stocky, medium-sized dog that has a smooth fawn or brindled coat and square-jawed muzzle. This energetic and playful breed of dog tends to be very good with young children if trained properly. Its obedience must be developed early, however, since this type of dog has a strong personality and could get stubborn and harder to train when they are older. They range in height from 16 to 27 inches and weigh between 40 and 75 pounds. Boxers are typically either of fawn or brindle with a white underbelly. Some boxers are entirely white and these have the strange quality of being occasionally deaf! The Bull Boxer originated in the 1990's in Great Britain by crossing the Boxer and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Today there are variations of this cross using the Boxer and other Bull breeds. |
