The Boston Terrier is a compact, well-muscled and clean-cut dog who rarely sheds. He is one of the most popular dogs because of his strength, affectionate and loving demeanor and most of all, his determination. Boston Terriers are intelligent and lively and therefore make great companions. The Boston Terrier originated in the United States and was, of course, adopted by the great city of Boston. They have a small bulldog-like shape and their faces are unmistakable with a short, wide muzzle and dark, large round eyes. The eyes are set very far apart between their small, fine, erect ears. Though bred at first for use in dog fights, today's Boston Terrier has been bred to have less aggressive tendencies. He is really just a sweet and sensitive Bostonian! His coat is short and smooth and usually comes in either brindle or black with white markings. Terriers weigh between 11 and 24 pounds and their height ranges from 10 inches to 16 inches. |
