The Border Terrier is a spunky little dog that is always alert and lively but still somewhat mild-mannered. Hardy and scruffy little fellows, these guys actually make very bold hunters. Their legs are relatively longer than those of other Terriers and this makes them better runners. They have a coarse coat with dark eyes and a short muzzle. The coat comes in red, blue and tan, tan and grizzle and tan and is dense with a wiry undercoat. The males stand from 13-16 inches and weighs from 13-16 pounds while the females stand from 11-14 inches and weigh about 11-14 pounds. This mild-mannered breed makes a loving, good natured companion but they are prone to dislocated kneecaps however insensitive they may be to pain. They require sufficient walking and exercise in order to keep them happy and healthy. |
