The Bluetick Coonhound is a unique dog with its bluish coat (in reality the coat is heavily black speckled on white but this tends to give it a bluish tint). This dog has very muscular legs but very small cat-like feet with arched toes and pendular ears. Do not let this breed off the leash in an unsafe area, as they may take off after an interesting scent. They have an especially strong instinct to tree animals. The Bluetick Coonhound stands between 20-27 inches and weighs between 45 and 80 pounds. Bluetick Coonhounds are very social and they make great companions. Each of them has a distinct voice that is recognizable to their master! On the downside, they tend to drool and slobber alot so they are not ideal for people who live in apartments. They need a large yard to keep them happy and contented and to keep your living quarters dry! |
