Bloodhounds or "Chien de Saint-Hubert" as they are also sometimes known is a gentle breed of dog that has wrinkled skin and drooping ears. The appearance often makes them very appealing to children and they are therefore a popular choice as the beloved family dog. Bloodhounds are considered to be the best scent trackers in the world. This has led to their popular use in many police investigations. Originally from Belgium, the Bloodhounds coat comes in colors of black and tan, red and tan or all tan. Male Bloodhounds range in height from 25 inches to 27 inches and weigh between 90 to 110 pounds. The females are a bit smaller ranging from 23 inches to 25 inches and weighs between 80 and 100 pounds. This affectionate breed is also devoted and very protective which makes them an excellent watchdog. |
