The Petit Bleu de Gascogne has one of the greatest noses of all dogs. It is an excellent hound which can follow even the very faintest of scents. Resourceful and determined, this breed is unfortunately not too easy to train. They stand around 20-23 inches and weigh between 40-48 pounds. They are not recommended for apartment life because of their energy and determined nature. The Petit Bleu de Gascogne loves a good run and therefore will need a lot of exercise. They have an incredible level of stamina and can go for hours and hours on end. They would greatly enjoy hiking with you, but be prepared to investigate any interesting scent that this Petit may pick up. The breed was created though selective breeding of the Grand Bleu de Gascogne and is a smaller size made to hunt small prey. Its country of origin is France. It is more rare than its relative the Grand Bleu de Gascogne. |
