Bichon Frise means "curly lap dog" in French and this is indeed a tiny dog about the size of a cat. It was first developed in France after the World War I and was bred in the United States in the 1950s. Similar to poodles, they are popular pets most especially because of their sunny disposition. They always have a lot of energy and are very devoted to their masters. Bichons weigh between 7 and 12 lb and stand 9 to 12 inches at the withers. They have white, curly fur which requires careful and regular grooming. The utmost care is needed especially around their face area since eye discharge and mucus tend to collect in the fur and it grows in front of their eyes. As long as they are cared for properly, this will not lead to any serious problems. |
