The Beauceron is a very loyal, protective and extremely patient dog. This guy was originally a herding dog but also makes a good watchdog and a great family pet. Way back in the 1500's the Beauceron used to track bears, boars and stag on the French countryside. They stand about 25 - 28 inches tall and weigh around 65 - 85 lbs. The coat is usually Black and tan or a black and tan merle with a slight fringe on the thighs and under the tail. The look is one of an athletic, strong dog with freedom of movement and liveliness. He is very is a brave, faithful and highly intelligent, having a strong aptitude for obedience training. In fact, you better train this guy or he will herd everything in sight! With training he can also make an excellent guard dog because his appearance and demeanor command alot of respect. Make sure you at least have a small yard or field for this guy to run in becasue he is happiest when working or exercising in a wide-open space. |
