Charlie Brown’s very own Snoopy is a Beagle, which probably gives you an idea that such a breed is an ideal pet. Often, these dogs have been used for hunting rabbits and have been nicknamed “the poor person’s foxhunter”. They have large, hazel or brown eyes and long, low set ears. The body is an overall muscular build but only a small to medium size. It is well proportioned with a slightly large head. They appear in a range of colors; most often white with large black and light brown spots. The Beagle stands between 10 and 15 inches high and weighs between 20 and 40 lb. They are extremely cheerful and have a creative temperament. They do not drool and shedding is never a problem. Even the President of the US, Lyndon B. Johnson owned 3 Beagles which he named "Him," "Her," and "Edgar". |
