The Anatolian Shepherd Dog, also known as the Karabash, is a strong and powerful guardian of livestock. He is a very loyal, alert and possessive dog. When you consider his size, weighing anywhere from 100 to 150 pounds, it is amazing to think that he is still capable of such great speed and tremendous endurance. The head is large, but in good proportion with the rest of the body. The triangular, pendant ears are often black and rather small with rounded tips. The small, deep-set eyes range from gold to brown in color. He has a short or rough double coat that is generally fawn with a black mask. Other frequently seen colors include pinto, white and brindle. This breed is also patient and protective with children, but he may accidentally knock them down. Be careful! A few small considerations and this dog can make for a wonderful pet. |
