"Beware of Dog!" The Pit Bull is well known as being a dog of power, passion, and intense willfulness. Still, its reputation often precedes it and it can be a very lovable pet if it is properly raised. The head, which is comparable to a brick, is especially broad, and it rides upon a thick muscled and well-defined neck. This strong neck then runs into a deep, well-sprung chest that is very intimidating. The American Pit Bull is a very strong, stocky and agile dog, especially for his size. He stands about 18 to 22 inches tall and weighs anywhere from 22 to 110 pounds. The ears are generally cropped, though this is optional. The coat is made up of thick, short, shiny hair that comes in many colors. It is not just the appearance that gives this dog his reputation. He can be extremely dangerous, especially to other animals. If he is properly socialized, however, he will be just like a "big lovable baby". This is a quality companion but only for a quality owner! |
