The first American Hairless Terrier was only recently born in the "disco generation" to a litter of mid-sized Rat Terriers. He is a loving, playful, and highly intelligent dog who is completely hairless except for his eyebrows and whiskers! They are generally 7 to 16 inches tall and weigh anywhere from 5 to 16 pounds. The skin is usually pink with black, gray, brown or red spots. It is warm and very soft to the touch. This soft skin, unfortunately, makes the Hairless Terrier a common allergy sufferer and he also needs special protection from the sun. Apart from their special needs, these dogs make very loving and delightful companions, especially amongst the elderly and amongst famed Hollywood actresses like Paris Hilton! They are great for apartment life and stay fairly active indoors. They can be dressed in funny little sweaters and coverings and carried around to the shopping mall or wherever you would like to go. |
